Purging Deleted Users
Overview
Swivel Secure AuthControl Sentry uses a safety mechanism similar to a “Recycle Bin” for user deletion. When a user is removed from a repository (e.g., Active Directory) or deleted manually, they are initially placed in a Marked as Deleted state.
This ensures that if a user was removed incorrectly, they can be reinstated with their original PIN and token seed intact.
Warning
License Usage: A user in the “Marked as Deleted” state continues to consume a Swivel license. You must perform a Purge to permanently remove the user and free up the license.
Permissions
Administrators: Can purge individual users or perform a bulk purge of all deleted users in a repository.
Helpdesk Users: Can generally only purge individual users (depending on specific role configuration).
Step-by-Step Guide
Navigate to User Administration
Log in to the Swivel Administration Console. You can access the purge function from either the User Administration menu or the Status page.
Locate Deleted Users
On the Status or Filter screen, change the view filter to show Deleted Users.
Select the Repository
If you have multiple data sources, select the specific Repository (e.g., AD, XML) where the users exist.
Purge the User(s)
To Purge an Individual: Click on the username to select them, then click the Purge button.
To Purge All (Admin only): Look for the Purge button located above the user list to remove all “Marked as Deleted” users in that repository.
Once clicked, the user is permanently removed and the license is released.
